One year ago, I felt completely lost.
I had just given birth to my son, and found that maternity leave was MUCH harder than the first time (15 years ago). My entire life shifted, and I went from working in Corporate America with lots of friends, and making a nice salary, to being on “house arrest” and feeling isolated.
I love my baby, but I was miserable, and I didn’t know where to turn. I missed my friends, and I needed to make connections. I also needed a creative outlet. A way to keep my sanity.
But I was determined to overcome this, and figure out the best way to take care of my baby, and myself, despite not having a clue what to do next.
Over the next 8 months, I decided to turn a hobby and passion into the “real thing” and created a gluten free and dairy free blog.
Little did I know, sharing my passion with others would completely transform my life.
The best part? Getting to meet fellow Celiacs and gluten intolerant people and finding out I helped them in a big way.
Around 4 months after starting my blog, I was invited by a local health food store to be their “gluten free ambassador”. They have many customers who don’t know where to turn after being diagnosed with Celiac, and they wanted to give their customers an opportunity to connect with someone who could help.
So I started my journey at their yearly gluten free event, which gave me the opportunity to meet people in all walks of gluten free life. From the newly diagnosed Celiac, to the mom whose kids had just been diagnosed, to the elderly couple who had been gluten free for years, everyone was there. They got to try a sample of my most popular recipe: flourless almond butter cookies, which were a hit. In fact, most people were asking where to buy them.
Little by little, my tribe grew. Now, I have the opportunity to make a difference in more lives by attending the Gluten Free and Allergy Free Expo in Dallas, Texas in October!
This even is going to be JAM PACKED full of free gluten free goodies from companies like Enjoy Life (chocolate, anyone?), BFree, Smart Flour, Sprouts, Swerve, and many more! It’s a great opportunity to find the BEST gluten free products and to try before you buy (or should I say, invest in some cases, e.g. Enjoy Life cookies!) and connect with other people who share your struggles!
There will also be TWO DAYS of classes, where experts will provide helpful information on topics like: your legal rights to be gluten free, natural help for autoimmune affected skin, healing gut inflammation, SECRETS from 100 successful gluten sensitive and Celiac people, and so much more.
If you are interested in going to this amazing event, you can get tickets to the GFAF Expo here and use the code EARLYBIRD (until 9/26) for 30% off!
I am most excited about learning helpful information from the classes to share with my audience and connecting with brands! (And of course COOKIES!)
